Losing weight while training for marathon
Can I loose weight while training for a marathon?
Training for a marathon does not guarantee weight loss. In fact, when you’re training for a marathon, your body will become a most efficient, lean mean running machine, which includes making the most of calorie utilization. Your metabolism will process calories more slowly to get the most out of your reserves. Nonetheless, running exercises and diet (healthy food, not less food per se) will help you to lose weight.
The most important thing is to burn more than you chew. If you eat more calories than you need for you’re running, you will not loose any weight (although you would do much worse if you didn’t had any exercise at all). Calculate how many calories you need to fuel the workout, and consume that many calories before and during the workout to keep energy levels constant. As a rule of thumb, 100 calories are burned for every mile run.
